From the outset, this proved to be a logistical challenge, the first obstacle being that the performances had to be swapped each night so they would take it in turns to be first. This meant that we had to learn 2 different interval changes, holiday camp to five star resturant and vice versa. On top of this, Celebration requires six two course meals which are hot, and completely edible to be served every night to the cast. So as well as making a gourmet resturant on a budget of £200, we also had to provide over 60 meals, and time them so they were hot to take on stage the second the show went up each night! Aside from the logistical considerations for this show, i found it extremely exciting to be in the rehearsal room each day. Watching the show develop as the actors workshopped it for the first time was a truly fascinating experience, one which has made me watch Pinter, and other 'social' writers, with renewed interest and understanding. I enjoyed working on this show immensely, becoming quite close to my Stage Manager and ASM.
